QUEENS — A Rego Park deli, known for naming its dishes after local residents, stores and elected officials, has just introduced a new hot dog called the "Rego Bark."

The name was selected earlier this month after Ben's Best Deli, at 96-40 Queens Blvd., launched a contest among its customers asking them to come up with a name for the new hot dog, which consists of a beef frankfurter, slice of corned beef or pastrami, pieces of mandarin orange and mustard.

More than 100 patrons pitched their ideas, which included "Frank and Strami," "Fruitfurter" and "Dogarami."

But the deli picked “Rego Bark,” because it refers to both “Rego Park” and “hot dog,” said Richard Meseika, a longtime employee at Ben’s Best Deli.

The deli is known for naming its dishes and sandwiches after events and local residents. The menu at Ben’s Best Deli also includes the “QueensWay Sandwich,” the "Lefrak Special," and "Bed, Bath & Beyond."

The new hot dog costs $6.50.
