PROSPECT-LEFFERTS GARDENS — A new sit-down Mediterranean spot is opening this weekend in the neighborhood, bringing gourmet falafel, shawarma, hummus and other Israeli-inspired specialties to Washington Avenue.

The second location of Kulushkat (named for a phrase that means, literally, “shut up and eat”) is set to open on Sunday at 1137 Washington Ave. between Lefferts Avenue and Lincoln Road in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, said owner Yagil Kadosh.

The new eatery will serve many of the same dishes inspired by Kadosh’s Moroccan and Israeli heritage that have done well at Kulushkat’s original location which has stood for more than four years on Dean Street near Fifth Avenue directly across from the Barclays Center. But the new spot will have double the space — 26 seats instead of 13 — and table service, though both spots will be “fast casual,” he said.

Kadosh has been looking for a new location for “about a year,” he said, and settled on Washington Avenue after he himself moved a few blocks away and found other nearby areas oversaturated, including Bushwick, Crown Heights and Ridgewood, Queens.

“We didn’t want to move to an area that’s already super packed and full … we wanted to go to a place that’s still growing,” he said of Prospect-Lefferts Gardens.

Prices at the eatery range from $3 sides like burrekas and stuffed grape leaves to platters, sandwiches and salads for between $9 and $11.

The new Kulushkat will be open Monday through Friday for dinner from 5 to 11 p.m. and for brunch and dinner on weekends, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
