Celebrate Halloween in Central Brooklyn With These Kid-Friendly Events

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — Break out your best costumes and bring on the scares for Halloween in central Brooklyn.

Whether you’re scouting for the blocks with the best candy or visiting a haunted house, there’s plenty for kids and parents to do in Bed-Stuy, Crown Heights and the surrounding neighborhoods.

Friday, Oct. 30

Movies at the Library: “The Book of Life”

Where: Macon Library, 361 Lewis Ave.
When: 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Check out a free screening of the animated adventure musical comedy, “The Book of Life,” after some Halloween activities at Bed-Stuy’s Macon Library, complete with candy.

Saratoga Halloween Fashion Show

Where: Saratoga Library, 8 Thomas S. Boyland St.
When: 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Show off your best costumes in this free Halloween fashion show for adults and kids of all ages. Participants must register at the library’s customer service desk or online.

Watch “The Haunted Mansion” at Family Movie Night

Where: Brooklyn Swirl, 441 Marcus Garvey Blvd.
When: 6 to 8 p.m.

Kids are in for a sweet and spooky treat at yogurt shop Brooklyn Swirl, where the business joins the Katmint daycare in a movie screening of “The Haunted Mansion.” A Q&A and open discussion will follow after the film and visitors can chow down on frozen yogurt, popcorn and more. ► Little Ghouls and Goblins Halloween Fest

Where: Full Gospel Assembly of God, 131 Sullivan Place
When: 6 p.m.

Kids can get their fill of treats and games and show off their best costume during a contest at the second annual Halloween Fest sponsored by Sen. Jesse Hamilton’s office. This year’s theme is “Little Ghouls and Goblins.”

Saturday, Oct. 31

Brooklyn Children Museum’s Monster Mash

Where: Brooklyn Children’s Museum, 145 Brooklyn Ave.
When: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Check out creepy crawlers and dance to monster music at this daylong celebration. The Brooklyn Children’s Museum offers live music, art workshops and science stations for costumed kids. Tickets are $11, BCM members get in for free.

Halloween Festival

Where: Herbert Von King Park, corner of Greene and Marcy avenues
When: Noon to 3 p.m.

The Von King Park Conservancy hosts a Halloween Festival in partnership with the 79th Precinct, with a pumpkin patch and haunted house in this neighborhood green space. Kids can continue the festivities with a party inside the Magnolia Tree Earth Center at 677 Lafayette Ave.

Halloween Dance Party

Where: Friends and Lovers, 641 Classon Ave.
When: 2 to 5 p.m.

Brooklyn Doodles and Friends and Lovers join together for a Halloween dance party, filled with music, games, a magic show and goodie bags. Prizes are up for grabs for best kids’ costume, “Mommy/Daddy and me” costumes, and freeze dance. The party’s open to children ages 3 through 10, and tickets cost $25.

Saucy by Nature’s Cookie Decorating Party

Where: Saucy Restaurant, 884 Fulton St.
When: 3 to 4:30 p.m.

Sip on hot, spiced, local cider while decorating homemade cookies. Tickets are $15 per child, parents get in free.

The Stomping Ground’s Second Annual Costume Party

Where: The Stomping Ground, 636 Classon Ave.
When: 4:30 to 7 p.m.

Kids of all ages are welcome for a glow-stick dance party and treats at The Stomping Ground play space. Live music, themed games and a movie with popcorn will be offered. Tickets are $25 per family. Email stompinggroundch@gmail.com to RSVP.

► 9th Annual Bedford-Stuyvesant Halloween Trick-or-Treat Blocks Map

Where: The route starts on Halsey Street between Tompkins and Throop avenues
When: Saturday Oct. 31, 4:30 to 8 p.m.

Follow the orange and black balloons around Bed-Stuy for a night of trick-or-treating. The annual event is hosted by the Jefferson Avenue TNT Block Association, with organizers mapping out participating neighborhood blocks. Pick up a map of this year’s houses and blocks at the 99 cents store at 1445 Fulton St. and Foodtown at 1420 Fulton St.
