WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — A former NYPD officer jumped in front of a train on Thursday after fatally stabbing his estranged girlfriend in her New Jersey driveway, prosecutors and reports said.

Arthur Lomando, of Long Island, stabbed Suzanne Bardzell, 48, in the driveway of her Midland Park, N.J., home then went to Manhattan and threw himself in front of a C train at the 168th Street stop about an hour later at 4:25 p.m., according to the NYPD and Bergen County prosecutor John Molinelli.

Lomando was taken to Harlem Hospital with severe head trauma and had his legs amputated, Molinelli and police said.

On Thursday, Bardzell drove her SUV into her driveway at 3:26 p.m. when Lomando approached, smashed her driver side window then stabbed her several times with a large knife, Molinelli told the Bergen Record.

Bardzell, a mother of two and a special education teacher, met Lomando online three years ago but took an order of protection out against him earlier this month after several domestic violence incidents, the Bergen Record reported.

Lomando worked as an NYPD officer for 10 years but was terminated in 2004 for several misconduct issues and mental health concerns, ABC 7 reported.
