UPPER WEST SIDE — Police are searching for a pair of men they believe robbed victims at gunpoint and stole their cellphones in two separate incidents last week.

On Friday, Oct. 16, a man approached a victim on Broadway at West 100th Street roughly 12:15 a.m., flashed a handgun and demanded his cellphone, according to Capt. Marlon Larin of the 24th Precinct.

The suspect then fled the scene, but the victim did not report the crime until the next morning, he said.

The next evening, at 12:35 a.m., two men approached another man on West 80th Street between Amsterdam Avenue and Broadway, flashed a handgun and took the victim's cellphone and an unknown amount of cash, police said.

Because of the similarity in the timing and nature of the crimes, investigators believe the incidents are related and that one of the suspects was involved in both, Larin said.

The suspects are described as men in their 20s, standing between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-10, and weighing between 110 and 150 pounds, he said.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).

Correction: A previous version of this story stated that the first robbery occurred on West 116th Street. It was actually West 100th Street.
