UPPER EAST SIDE — Bill Nye the Science Guy will be at the 92nd Street Y later this month to discuss dark matter and the cosmos with theoretical physicist Lisa Randall.

The Oct. 27 talk accompanies the release of Randall's new book, "Dark Matter and the Dinosaurs," which explores the beginning of the universe and the idea that dark matter might have been responsible for the extinction of the dinosaurs.

The discussion will be open to various topics and will not necessarily focus on the book, according to the organizer.

Nye has been been lecturing around the country, including his most recent visit to the White House for "Astronomy Night."

Randall is a professor of science at Harvard University's physics department and made Time magazine's list of the "100 Most Influential People" in 2007.

Over the years, she has worked to make string theory and quantum mechanics more accessible to less scientifically-inclined people through her other books "Knocking on Heaven's Door" and "Warped Passages," according to the 92nd Street Y.

The talk will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the 92nd Street Y, Buttenwieser Hall. Tickets start at $40 and can be bought on 92y.org.
