RED HOOK — Pizza Moto is set to officially open its brand new brick-and-mortar restaurant in Red Hook on Tuesday.
The pizzeria will serve its signature Neapolitan-style pizza alongside small and large-plate options. The eatery is also expected to serve beer, wine and cocktails.
Co-owners Anna Viertel and Dave Sclarow had been searching for a permanent spot when they found the space at 338 Hamilton Ave. near the Red Hook-Carroll Gardens border.
The eight-year-old business has primarily used homemade mobile wood-fired ovens for their pizzas, but in the Hamilton Avenue space, they found a turn-of-the-centuty coal oven hidden behind a wall.
Sclarow, who is also Pizza Moto's executive chef, restored the oven and retrofitted it to burn wood instead of coal. The restaurant recently hosted its soft opening leading up to its official opening for dinner Tuesday evening, the owners said in a news release Tuesday.
Pizza Moto closed its food stall at beer hall Berg'n in Crown Heights to focus its efforts on completing construction at the brick-and-mortar restaurant.
