LOWER MANHATTAN — A man and woman staying at a Downtown hotel stole three other guests' bags, filled with $7,005 worth of belongings, police said.

The two thieves checked out of the Club Quarters Hotel at 140 Washington St. on Sept. 27, then later lied to hotel staff, claiming three bags that were being held in a storage area were theirs, at about 3 p.m, police said.

The man, 25, and his female companion, grabbed the bags, which contained clothes, a laptop and other electronic devices, as well as credit cards, and walked out.

The couple purchased a drink from a neighboring Starbucks inside a Marriott Hotel at 85 West St. with one of the stolen credit cards, then left, police said.

Police were still investigating the incident.

The hotel did not immediately return request for comment.
