MANHATTAN — A man was arrested on Friday after he threw a Molotov cocktail at a group of Hasidic and Muslim men in Midtown last week, police said.

Thomas Miles, 53, of Briarwood, was charged with attempted murder, attempted felony assault, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment after he tossed a bottle with flammable liquid and a burning rag at the men, according to the NYPD.

On Oct. 9, Miles — who was caught on surveillance video clutching the bottle — got into an argument with a 44-year-old Muslim food vendor near 365 W. 37th St., near Ninth Avenue, at about 1:30 p.m., police said.

A pair of Hasidic men, both 20, tried to intervene but only angered Miles more, police said.

Miles threatened to kill the men then threw the Molotov cocktail at them, police said. The glass shattered and spread the flaming liquid across the sidewalk.

None of the men were injured, officials said.

The NYPD's hate crime task force was investigating the incident but Miles was not charged with a hate crime, police said.
