Off-Duty Officer Stabbed During Robbery Attempt in Queens, Officials Say

QUEENS — An female off-duty NYPD officer was stabbed in her cheek during a robbery in a Fresh Meadows park Friday afternoon, and a suspect was taken into custody, officials said.

The officer was in Cunningham Park near 193rd Street and Union Turnpike about 2 p.m. when the robber tried to grab her bag and then attacked her, according to officials.

A female suspect was arrested after the attack, an NYPD spokesman said. 

The officer was taken to Long Island Jewish Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

It was not immediately know where the suspect was apprehended.
