MAP: Forest Hills' P.S. 196 Ranks Highest on English and Math State Exams

QUEENS — P.S. 196 Grand Central Parkway in Forest Hills, one of the most sought after schools in the borough, had the highest percentage of fourth graders pass the state’s English Language Arts and math exams in Queens' District 28 this year, according to DNAinfo's analysis of 2015 test results.

The school, at 71-25 113th St., had 70.8 percent of its fourth graders pass the test this year, the 39th best passing score in the city for ELA.

The school also ranked No. 1 in the district for fourth grade math scores, as 86.4 percent of its students passed this year’s math test, ranking 22nd in the city.

P.S. 144 Col Jeromus Remsen at 93-02 69th Ave., ranked second in the district overall. The school's fourth graders scored 60th in the city for ELA, with a passing rate of 64.7 percent, and 77th for math, with 70.1 percent of fourth graders passing the test.

P.S. 101 School in the Gardens at 2 Russell Place took the third spot with 64.4 percent of fourth graders passing the ELA test, and 79.5 percent passed the math test, ranking 63rd and 41st in the city, respectively.

The same schools took the top three spots in the district last year as well.
