Upper West Side — An elderly man was stabbed in the shoulder inside a public housing complex Friday, officials and sources said.
The victim, who sources said was in his 70s, was attacked about 2:20 p.m. inside the Wise Towers at 589 Amsterdam Ave., authorities said.
He was taken to St Luke's Hospital where his condition was not immediately known, a FDNY spokesman said.
Residents of the Wise Towers told DNAinfo New York they were surprised to hear about the stabbing.
"This isn't common at all," said Samantha Lopez, 22, "It's usually peaceful and quiet here."
The NYPD did not immediately have any information on the incident, a police spokesperson said.
