LENOX HILL — Sotheby's is getting a new cafe.

Sant Ambroeus — an Italian eatery with four other locations in the city — is expected to replace Sotheby's Terrace Cafe on York Avenue, according to a representative for the chain.

The chain is looking to get a liquor license for its new cafe, to accompany a menu of mostly sandwiches, pastries, panettone and cookies, according to a representative for Sant Abroeus who appeared before Community Board 8's street life committee on Tuesday.

The space itself, which will be located on the top floor of Sotheby's building at 1334 York Ave., is made up of 1,200 square feet inside, and an additional 2,500 square feet on the adjoining patio.

CB8's street life committee supported the restaurant's bid for a liquor license, but its up to the State Liquor Authority to give final approval.

Sant Ambroeus declined to provide more details on Wednesday, citing that the plan is still in the early stages. Sotheby's did not return a request for comment.

The cafe is expected to be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and 1 to 4 p.m. on Sundays, according to its SLA application.
