WOODSIDE — Big Bush Park is set to get a $1.8 million makeover next year, city officials announced Friday.

The renovation will bring new playground equipment, including swings and a water sprinkler, as well as new seating, game tables and exercise equipment for adults, according to the Parks Department.

Other improvements include a new drinking fountain, new lighting and a plaza that will be built near the 61st Street entrance with benches and tables, officials said.

The redesign, which will also add more greenery to the park, was based on suggestions and requests from the community, according to the Parks Department.

Construction at the park —  located on Laurel Hill Boulevard between 61st and 64th streets, near the Big Six Towers — is expected to start in the fall of 2016, officials said.

It was not immediately clear whether the park would be closed during construction.
