MIDTOWN — A robber made off with thousands of dollars from a Midtown bank last week after threatening to kill tellers if his wishes were not met, police said.

The thief walked into the People’s United Bank at 250 Park Ave. on Oct. 2 shortly after 3 p.m., and handed a teller a note saying, "I have a gun, give me money or I will kill you," according to a police report.

Bank employees handed the robber a bag with $4,799 in cash and a hidden dye pack, police said.

The thief, who police described as standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 160 pounds, then fled the scene, police said.

There were no arrests in regards to the incident.
