QUEENS — Forest Hills police officers rescued a stray kitten that got trapped in the engine compartment of a car Sunday night.
The animal hid inside the vehicle parked in front of 67-41 Burns St., between Yellowstone Boulevard and 67th Avenue, police said.
With the assistance of the Emergency Service Unit team, officers from the 112th Precinct were able to save the animal.
A woman who was passing by and witnessed the rescue decided to adopt the kitten, police said.
This was the second time in recent months officers from the 112th Precinct rescued a kitten. In August, another little cat got trapped under a delivery truck when the vehicle was stopped at a red light in Rego Park.
They also rescued a dog left in a scorching hot car for more than an hour in Forest Hills this past summer.
