EAST HARLEM — A thief stole more than $2,000 worth of laptops and Wi-Fi devices from Democracy Prep Harlem Elementary School.
The schools’ operations manager from the school at 2005 Madison Ave. discovered an Apple computer missing from a locked room in early September, according to the NYPD.
The room was locked and there were no signs of forced entry. Multiple members of the school’s staff have keys with access to the room, police said.
About a week later, on Sept. 10, the operations manager discovered three Wi-Fi hotspot devices missing from three separate rooms. None of the rooms were locked.
A second lap top computer was found missing from another room a few days later, according to the NYPD.
Both computers and the wi-fi devices cost about $2,120. The school did not respond to questions about the theft.
Although school officials believe the thefts took place in July, they were not reported until the end of September, police said.
