6 Subway Lines Will be Disrupted This Weekend

NEW YORK — Six subway lines are scheduled for disruptions this weekend, but the MTA has made it clear that it's preparing for the worst in the event that Hurricane Joaquin touches down in NYC.

While it's too soon to say whether service will be affected by the potential storm, officials have been filling sandbags, doling out generators, gassing up their vehicles and scheduling emergency staffers, they said.

"If the storm continues to track for New York City, the MTA can deploy covers for the 540 openings into the subway system in Lower Manhattan (vent shafts, stairs, manholes, etc.)," the MTA wrote on its website on Thursday.

Here’s a breakdown of the service changes scheduled for Friday night through early Monday morning:

3 Line: 
3 trains will skip Rockaway and Van Siclen avenues in both directions at all times until late October. Shuttle buses will be available and transfers are free with a MetroCard.

For service to and from Rockaway Avenue, use shuttle buses to and from the Saratoga Avenue station. B60 riders can transfer to and from shuttle buses at Rockaway Avenue.

For service to and from Van Siclen Avenue, commuters can use shuttle buses to and from the Pennsylvania Avenue station.

4 Line:
4 trains will skip Rockaway and Van Siclen avenues in both directions at all times until late October. 

A train:
Far Rockaway/Lefferts Boulevard-bound A trains will skip 80th Street at all times until winter 2016.

To get to this station, you can take a Far Rockaway or Lefferts Boulevard-bound A train to 88th Street and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A train.

For service from this station, take a Brooklyn-bound A train to Grant Avenue and transfer to a Far Rockaway or Lefferts Boulevard-bound A train.

Far Rockaway/Lefferts Boulevard-bound A trains will also skip 111th Street at all times until winter 2016.

For service to this station, take a Lefferts Boulevard-bound A train to Lefferts Boulevard where you can transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A train.

To travel from this station, hop on the Q112 bus or take a Brooklyn-bound A train to 104th Street and transfer to a Lefferts Boulevard-bound A train.

E Line:
Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer-bound E train will run local from Roosevelt Avenue to 71st Avenue from 12:01 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday. 

F Line:
Jamaica 179th Street-bound F trains will skip Ditmas Avenue at all times until fall 2015.

To take the train from this station, take a Jamaica-179th Street-bound F train to Church Avenue and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue-bound F train. 

For service from this station, take a Coney Island-bound F train to 18th Avenue and transfer to a Jamaica- 179th Street-bound F train. 

Additionally, Jamaica-179th Street-bound F trains will skip Avenue X at all times until winter 2015. 

For service to this station, take a Jamaica-179th street-bound F train to Avenue U and transfer to a Coney-Island-Stillwell Avenue-bound F train.

For service from this station, take a Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue-bound F train to Neptune Avenue and transfer to a Jamaica-179th Street-bound F train.

Jamaica-179th Street-bound F trains will run express from West 4th Street-Washington Square to 34th Street-Hearld Square from 11:45 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.

Jamaica-179th Street-bound F train will run local from Roosevelt Avenue to Forest Hills-71st Avenue from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday. 

R Line:
R trains will be extended to the Jamaica-179th Street F train station from 6:30 a.m. to midnight Saturday and Sunday.
