EAST VILLAGE — Two robbers attacked a man before pulling cash from a register inside a local video game store Monday night, police said.

Police said two armed men in their early 20s entered VideoGamesNewYork at 202 East 6th St. at about 11 p.m. and struck a 32-year-old clerk over the head with a gun before stealing an undetermined amount of cash.

Video surveillance footage released by the NYPD showed the robbers holding a person at gunpoint and dragging another on the ground.

The clerk was sent to Bellevue Hospital where he was treated and released, according to the NYPD.

"I don’t understand the violence of this act. This extremely concerns me," said Giulio Graziani, who has owned VideoGamesNewYork for the past 10 years. He called the incident "completely shocking" and "unnecessarily" violent, saying that the robbers did not need to harm his employee to make off with the few hundred dollars in the register.

"This is violence for whatever, for nothing," Graziani said.

Police said the robbers were 5-foot-6 and 6 feet tall. The video showed them wearing hooded sweatshirts and baseball caps. One suspect also wore black sunglasses during the incident while the other wrapped a piece of cloth around his face, according to the video.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS or visit its website.
