HELL'S CHICKEN? — What do you call the area in between Chelsea and Hells Kitchen? Chell's Kitchen? Hellsea? Hell's Chicken?

Last month we asked you to draw the borders of your neighborhood on our interactive map.

And the results revealed a black hole between Chelsea and Hell's Kitchen.

Most of around 600 Chelsea residents that participants thought the neighborhood ended around 29th Street, while most Hell's Kitchen residents started to draw their neighborhood at 40th Street.

There's no official answer to where neighborhood's start and end, according to the city's Department of City Planning. About 1,000 Chelsea and Hell's Kitchen residents weighed in.

How long you had lived in the neighborhood affected where you thought its boundaries were as well.

Hell's Kitchen residents who'd been there for less than five years thought the neighborhood extended between 42nd and 54th, while older residents believed the 'hood went further south to 40th Street and north to 59th Street.

Chelsea residents who'd been in the neighborhood for more than 10 years thought the neighborhood's northern boundary was 23rd Street but the neighborhood extended east until Sixth Avenue.

Whereas newer residents thought it ran north to 29th Street but only as far east as Seventh Avenue.

Think they're wrong? Still want your crack and drawing your neighborhood? You can do it here.
