QUEENS — The FDNY rescued a construction worker trapped below the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway Tuesday afternoon, officials and witnesses said.

The worker got stuck below the overpass at 56th Road and Laurel Hill Boulevard, on the Queens side, about 12:15 p.m., the FDNY said.

Crews were able to pull him to safety less than 45 minutes later, fire officials said.

He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital but was conscious and alert. It was unclear how high up he was, the FDNY said.
