BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — The Caribbean comes to Classon Avenue with a new fusion restaurant.
Lion’s Den, an eatery at 557 Classon Ave. near Fulton Street, opened its doors this summer with dishes like guava ginger wings and curry crab cheesecake.
The restaurant fuses traditional Caribbean fare with international cuisine, according to owner Stuart Boucaud.
The 60-seat space features a newly expanded dining room in what used to be bistro and bar My ArenA.
“We have a very unique concept but also want to present a welcoming place where you can just come and forget all your troubles,” Boucaud said.
The renovated room at Lion’s Den is open to the community for local meetings and gatherings, and the owner has teamed up with residents and area block associations for neighborhood events and park clean-ups.
“We’re very community-oriented and want to be a no-stress restaurant,” Boucaud added.
The restaurant’s menu features items like falafel kale salad with curry hummus dressing, guava ginger pulled pork tostones, and jerk shrimp and mussels in a cilantro, pesto, and coconut margarita sauce.
Patrons may soon be able to grab a drink or two, as the Lion’s Den received the go-ahead for a liquor license from Brooklyn’s Community Board 3 last week.
While the restaurant is typically closed on Mondays, it will be open for fans of Monday Night Football from 6 p.m. to midnight, Boucaud said.
Visitors can get their fill of tacos on Tuesdays, and 75 cent wings are paired with wine on Wednesdays. Brunch will be served on the weekends.
Lion’s Den is open for business but will host an official ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sept. 30 from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.
