
WILLIAMSBURG — Nearly 20 affordable apartments in a new seven-story development are up for rent — with prices starting at $883 per month for a studio.
The 95-unit building at 223 N. Eighth St. will include 19 affordable housing apartments, including 10 one-bedrooms, six studios and three two-bedrooms.
Applications are now open and are due by Oct. 9.
Prices start at $883 per month for a studio, available for single people earning between $29,932 and $36,300 per year.
One bedrooms, at $895 per month, are available for single people earning between $32,092 and $36,300 per year and two-person households earning between $32,092 and $41,460 per year.
The three available two-bedroom apartments in the building will cost $1,082 per month. Two-person households earning between $38,538 and $41,460 per year, three-person households earning between $38,538 and $46,620 a year and four-person households earning between $38,538 and $51,780 a year qualify.
Residents living within the Community Board 1 area will be given preferential treatment for half of the apartments.
The building includes amenities like outdoor terraces, credit card-operated laundry machines and a gym, which will be available to all tenants.
The property also has bicycle storage and parking for 48 cars.
It's unclear what market-rate apartments in the building will rent for, but the average rent for a one-bedroom in Williamsburg was $3,382 per month in August, according to real estate firm MNS.
The 20,000-square-foot lot housing 223 N. Eighth St. sold in 2012 for $13.5 million, according to city records.
