CHELSEA — A subway busker broke the fourth wall during an L train performance, punching a woman in the face and shoving her to the ground during an argument, police said.

A 53-year-old woman and a subway performer, who the victim said she didn't know, were arguing as they rode from Brooklyn into Manhattan on the L train, police said.

The altercation became violent just before 3:00 p.m. on Sept. 12 as the train reached the last stop. The artist, who was in his twenties, punched the woman and then pushed her to the ground when she tried to call police, according to the NYPD.

The man escaped the scene and police have not made any arrests in the incident.
