MELROSE — A homeless man stabbed another man to death on Tuesday, police said.

Jerry Hargrove, 41, was arrested and charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon for the death of a 33-year-old man whose name has not been released, police said.

The murder took place on East 156th Street in the Jackson Houses, where police arrived at about 3 p.m. to find the victim on the fourth-floor landing in the building’s stairwell with multiple stab wounds to his torso, according to the NYPD.

Officers said they believe the fight between Hargrove and the victim was about money.

EMS took the victim to Lincoln Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Hargrove has been arrested 24 times for charges including petit larceny and criminal sale of a controlled substance.
