By Emily Frost | September 14, 2015 4:45pm

MORNINGSIDE HEIGHTS — A woman walking home was raped on the stairs in front of her building early Saturday morning, police said.

The 26-year-old woman first noticed the man following her on a red bike on Manhattan Avenue at Cathedral Parkway as she walked southbound along the avenue shortly before 5:15 a.m. on Sept. 12, police said.

When she reached the steps of her home, the man grabbed her and raped her, police said. He then fled on his bike, police said.

The woman was transported to St. Luke's Hospital for treatment, police said. The suspect was described as between 20 to 25 years old, with brown hair. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt, dark jeans and converse sneakers, Barnard security said.

Neither the woman nor the man are affiliated with nearby Barnard College or Columbia University, a Columbia security officer confirmed.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
