CASTLETON CORNERS — Police are hunting a man who attempted to rape a woman inside her Castleton Corners apartment earlier this month.

On Sept. 7, the man followed a 20-year-old woman into her apartment building, near Dongan Avenue and Manor Road, at about 1:25 a.m., the NYPD said.

The man forced his way into the victim's apartment then sexually abused her and attempted to rape her, police said. He stopped and fled when the victim started to scream.

The woman was taken to an area hospital in stable condition after the attack, police said.

The suspect was described as standing roughly 6-foot-2 and weighing 185 pounds, police said. He was last seen wearing rolled up blue jeans, a black striped tank top and blue sneakers.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
