FINANCIAL DISTRICT —  A 15-year-old was punched and robbed of his self-balancing scooter after he let a man take a whirl on the hands-free ride last week, police said.

The teen was approached by three men who began asking questions about his $350 scooter as he was riding along the corner of New Street and Beaver Street on Saturday at about 12:45 p.m., police said.

He let one of the men try out the scooter, but when he asked to get it back, he was punched repeatedly in the face and neck by the other men.

The teen fell to the ground, and the thieves ran off with the scooter, along with his backpack, police said.
