CARROLL GARDENS — A new studio that lets painters showcase their creativity with a little liquid courage will open Monday in Carroll Gardens.

Painting with a Twist, located at 228 Smith St., is slated to officially open Sept. 14 with afternoon and evening sessions, its co-owners and sisters-in-law Suzette and Felicia Riley announced Thursday.

For $45, guests will be provided with a blank canvas, paints and brushes. Painters are also encouraged to bring their own beer and wine for the session but the studio will also sell beverages and snacks.

The classes will be led by an instructor and no prior experience is required. An online calendar shows the painting that the entire class will be working during the session.

After the piece is completed, guests can take their own painting home with them, the owners said.

"I'd describe it as the new dinner and a movie," Suzette Riley told DNAinfo earlier this year. "It's a great alternative to your regular date night."

The duo opened their first Painting with a Twist location in Lawrence, Ga. in 2012. The franchise was founded in 2007 and has more than 220 locations in 30 states.

Through the company's "Painting with a Purpose" programs, 50 percent of the proceeds will be donated to local organizations and charities.

Painting with a Twist will be open during scheduled class times that can be found online. Office hours will be held from 1 to 6 p.m.
