UPPER EAST SIDE — The city will close one or more lanes on the FDR Drive each night this week while it works to resurface the highway, according to DOT officials.

Crews will be resurfacing the southbound section of the stretch from East 63rd to 70th streets, including the exit and entrance ramps, the DOT said in a traffic advisory.

The work will shut down traffic in one or more of the FDR's three southbound lanes through Friday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., weather permitting.

The closures are a part of the DOT's on-going resurfacing of the FDR, a project announced in July, when it began by repaving the FDR from Montgomery Street to Houston Street.

The work on the rest of the highway is scheduled to go on for several months, according to the DOT, but it could not immediately provide the schedule for the rest of the project.
