GREENWICH VILLAGE — A man had soda thrown in his face when he was attacked by two other men on Bleecker Street, police said.

Two men assaulted a 25-year-old man on Bleecker between Sullivan and Thompson streets at 4:18 a.m. on Aug. 30, police said.

One of the men, 23, punched the victim in the face, leaving him swollen and in pain, police said.

The other man, 24, threw a cup of liquid in the victim's eyes, causing pain and redness, police said.

Police also found a gravity knife on the second assailant.

He told police, "I just threw soda," and his 23-year-old friend claimed, "I didn't punch him, I slapped him."

Both men were charged with misdemeanor assault, and the 24-year-old was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

A judge released them both without bail. The 23-year-old is due back in court on Oct. 19, and the 24-year-old is set to return on Dec. 1. The former's lawyer did not immediately return a voicemail, and the latter's attorney declined to comment.
