BROOKLYN — NYPD officers shot a man in Bushwick after he opened fire on them early Friday, according to the NYPD.

An officer and sergeant responding to reports of a different shooting saw a man fitting the suspect's description at Evergreen and Bushwick avenues at about 1:10 a.m., police said.

The 27-year-old suspect opened fire, striking the officers’ vehicle, according to the NYPD.

The two officers returned fire and then got out of the car and started to chase the suspect, police said.

Four more officers joined the pursuit and one of the officers shot the 27-year-old man in the left calf on Jefferson Avenue between Buskwick Avenue and Broadway, the NYPD said.

The suspect was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition and a .40 caliber Taurus Millennium handgun was recovered at the scene, police said.

Charges against the man were pending.

The 52-year-old victim of the first shooting was hit in the arm and taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center in stable condition.

All six officers were treated for tinnitus and were in stable condition, police said.

An investigation into the shootings is ongoing.
