BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — A man caught in North Carolina last week has been charged with murder in connection to the fatal shooting of a livery driver in Brooklyn, police said.
Unique Gray, of East New York, was arraigned Thursday on charges of first- and second-degree murder, along with criminal possession of a weapon and attempted robbery, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office.
Gray, 23, was wanted for the death of Naji Fawaz, who was shot and killed inside his cab on Decatur Street on June 29.
North Carolina deputies arrested Gray at a traffic stop on Aug. 30 after a weeklong manhunt.
He was extradited back to New York, officials said.
Police also arrested another suspect, Tyrell Gardenhire, on July 3 for his alleged involvement in the shooting.
The pair attempted to steal property from Fawaz, according to court documents, during which Gray shot Fawaz.
Gray is due back in court on Sept. 8.
