SOUTH WILLIAMSBURG — A man claiming to be a police officer held another man at gunpoint and forced him to take out hundreds of dollars in cash from local ATMs last week, police said.

The victim, 27, said he was in his parked car smoking a cigarette on Marcy Avenue near Broadway on Thursday, Aug., 27, at around 7 a.m. when a man approached him and claimed to be a police officer from the 86th precinct, which does not exist, police said.

The phony officer, described as about 20 years old and standing 5-foot-8, asked for the victim's license and registration before telling him to step out of the car, police said.

When the victim asked the suspect for his documents, he wouldn't show them and instead flashed a black firearm from his waistband and told the victim to walk with him, police said.

The two walked to a nearby ATM, where the victim took out $200 to give to the suspect, police said.

But the fake officer balked, saying he wanted $500, police said.

The two continued to walk to another a Chase Bank ATM on Havemeyer Street, where the victim took out $150 more, police said. The victim already had some cash on him and ultimately gave the suspect a total of $500 in cash, police said.

The suspect also took an Apple iPhone and a Samsung S5, both worth $500 each, before fleeing in a car, police said.

No arrests have been made and police are investigating.
