GOVERNORS ISLAND — Some freewheeling is on its way to Governors Island.

The New York City Unicycle Festival is rolling onto the island this weekend, on Saturday and Sunday, to celebrate the wonder of one-wheeling.

The festival, which expects hundreds of participants, has something for every type of unicycle enthusiast — whether they want to watch some experts whirl around and show off their balance and skill or learn to ride the mono-wheel.

The two-day event will include unicycle games, including a variety of sports, like basketball, hockey and even sumo wrestling.

There will also be competitions, races and chances for people of all ages to try out one-wheeling. Events run from noon to 5 p.m.

Before Governors Island, unicycle lovers can participate in two days of activities off of the Island. On Sept. 3, unicyclists will gather for a ride  from Battery Park to Central Park, where they'll make a loop around. The ride begins at 10 a.m.

The festival will then spend Sept. 4 in Brooklyn, riding over the Brooklyn Bridge to Coney Island. Cyclists are meeting at 2 p.m. on the Manhattan side of the bridge, if you want to roll along, or at least watch.
