TOMPKINSVILLE — A convicted sex offender was arrested after prosecutors said he failed to report that he'd moved from Brooklyn to Staten Island.

William Green, 46, was arrested Tuesday after police found he was living in a Van Duzer Street apartment without notifying the state's Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) of the move, prosecutors said.

According to court papers, Green was living in a homeless facility in Brooklyn and reported that address as his residence six days before he moved to Staten Island on July 20.

Green was arrested in 2008 for sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl, according to DCJS records. He was convicted of the charge in 2010, served five years in prison and was out on parole, according to the DCJS.

He was charged with failure to verify or register change of address, according to the Staten Island District Attorney's office.

He's being held on $100,000 bail and is due back in court on Friday.

Green's lawyer did not respond to a request for comment.
