BUSHWICK — A six-story residential building featuring patios and a mixed wood-and-metal facade is under construction on Bushwick Avenue.

The property, located at 690 Bushwick Ave. near Suydam Street, will house 20 apartment units, according to Department of Building filings.

It will also include a laundry room, 10 parking spaces and a recreation room on the roof, the filings added.

The owner purchased the property in August 2014 for $950,000, according to Department of Finance Records.

The previous two-story building at the site, which contained three units, has already been demolished.

Bushwick Avenue is filled with historic architecture like the Cook Mansion, but the block between Willoughby Avenue and Suydam Street has been getting stacked with modern new construction for the past couple years.

A four-story, 37-unit rental building at 39 Suydam St., at the corner of Bushwick Avenue, went up after construction started a few years ago, according to city records. Owner Richard Lopez purchased the more that 8,670-square-foot lot in 2012 for $1.65 million.

Apartments in the building rent for an average of $2,896 per month, according to StreetEasy, with an available three-bedroom duplex renting for $3,700 per month.

On the northern corner of the block, at 682 Bushwick Ave., Lopez put up a similar boxy building with 23 rental units after purchasing the property in 2011 for nearly $773,000.

Available apartments in that property rent for an average of $2,799 per month, according to StreetEasy listings. An open one-bedroom apartment rents for $1,899-per-month.

The listed property owner for 690 Bushwick Ave., Joel Kaufman, did not immediately return a request for comment.
