QUEENS — A driver who police said cut off a casino shuttle bus Monday, causing it to crash into a Rego Park house, injuring six people, was issued a summons following the accident.
The 37-year-old man from King of Prussia, PA, who was driving a grey Scion, was ticketed for making an improper turn, authorities said.
Both vehicles were going northbound on Woodhaven Boulevard. The bus was in the bus lane while the other driver was trying to make a right turn into 63rd Avenue from the middle lane, officials and witnesses said,
The bus driver swerved to avoid the crash and slammed into the three-story building on the corner of Woodhaven Boulevard and 63rd Avenue.
Six people were transported to local hospitals with various non-life-threatening injuries, according to the FDNY.
Three families and several businesses have been displaced after the Department of Buildings placed a full vacate order on the damaged building and an adjacent property.
The driver of the Scion, whose name has not been released, acknowledged that he was trying to turn into 63rd Avenue but claimed the accident was not his fault.
"I feel very sad for the people on the bus," the driver, who was not injured, told DNAinfo.com Monday. "I didn't want to hurt anybody."
