CRIME BLOTTER: Two Women Arrested For Park Slope Robbery, Police Say

PARK SLOPE — Two women were arrested after punching and robbing a 22-year-old of her Ray-Ban sunglasses, police said.

Police arrested Stephanie Sosa and Charlene Batista, both 23, after they attacked a 22-year-old woman as she was walking home on Third Street and Fourth Avenue on Aug. 13 at 12:15 a.m.

One of the women said "This is for your sister," then punched and shoved the victim. The victim wasn't injured in the attack, she told police.

Sosa and Batista were arraigned Aug. 14 and charged with felony robbery, assault, menacing and harassment. Attorneys for Sosa and Batista could not be reached immediately for comment.

Other notable crimes in this week's blotter at the 78th Precinct include the following, with details drawn from police reports:

► A 43-year-old woman who was having outpatient surgery at New York Methodist Hospital reported that $4,600 in jewelry went missing after she gave it to a nurse to put in a locker for safekeeping. A hospital spokeswoman said patients are advised not to keep valuables or large amounts of cash in their hospital rooms.

► A 33-year-old man had his book-bag stolen after he set it down next to him while he was drinking water in Prospect Park on Aug. 6 at 9:30 p.m. The bag contained a MacBook, a Vans T-shirt, a book, a notepad and pencils.

► A 14-year-old and two older teens were arrested for stealing a Zipcar from the parking lot of the Brooklyn Museum on Aug. 14 at 3:30 a.m.

► A Citibike was stolen from a docking station near the Barclays Center on Aug. 8 about 4:15 p.m.

► Two laptop computers were stolen Aug. 16 from the trunk of a 2012 Hyundai Accent parked on 11th Street near Fifth Avenue. The owner told police he wasn’t sure if the trunk was locked.

► A 45-year-old woman was walking down Ninth Street near Fourth Avenue on Aug. 15 at 10:20 p.m. when someone threw a glass bottle at her from across the street, cutting her feet.

► A 27-year-old man had his $3,500 custom-made Crooked Hill Cycles bike stolen when he left it unlocked outside a pizzeria on Fifth Avenue and Fourth Street on Aug. 14 at 8:45 p.m.

► A group of eight people robbed a 15-year-old of his cell phone and debit card outside the John Jay Educational Campus on Seventh Avenue and Fourth Street at 4 p.m. on Aug. 12.

► A 45-year-old man was out with his children getting ice cream when a burglar entered the family’s apartment through the front door, which was closed but not locked. The thief stole a $250 Marathon watch, a MacBook Air, two iPads and a $50 Gerber knife. The burglary happened Aug. 10 around 2 p.m.

► A $14,000 Suzuki motorcycle was stolen from Fourth Street and Fifth Avenue on Aug. 10 at 8:30 p.m.

► Burglars broke in through a locked front door and stole $200 in cash from an apartment while the 59-year-old tenant was at work on Aug. 12 between 12:45 a.m. and 8:45 a.m.
