QUEENS — A Benetton store on Austin Street in Forest Hills was recently replaced with Original Marines, a lesser known Italian fashion retailer.

The Benetton’s logo has been removed from the store windows, although a clerk at the location said that as of now the store still carries some Benetton items.

The clerk, who did not want to be identified, also said that the change comes as United Colors of Benetton scales down its operations in the U.S.

The Benetton, at 71-27 Austin St., opened roughly about 30 years ago, according to Leslie Brown, president of the Forest Hills Chamber of Commerce.

Neither Benetton nor Original Marines immediately returned emails seeking comment.
