SOUTH BRONX — "Gotham" is coming to...well, Gotham.

The hit Fox show, which premiered last year and tells the origin story of the Batman universe, will film inside the Old Bronx Borough Courthouse on Aug. 18, according to Henry Weinstein, one of the owners of the building.

The courthouse is a fairly popular filming location, having already been used in several episodes of "Law and Order" and in the movie "American Gangster," Weinstein said.

"We certainly welcome any kind of use like that," he said. "We think it’s a terrific way to use the building."

The Bronx has become a hot spot for the film and television industry recently. Silvercup Studios, which has worked on "When Harry Met Sally" and "The Sopranos," plans to open a new facility in Port Morris next June, and York Studios, which helped put together "Godzilla" and "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," is working to open a site in Soundview by next summer as well.

Additionally, famed director Baz Luhrmann is working on a Netflix show called "The Get Down" that focuses on a group of teenagers in the South Bronx during the 1970s, and the Cinemax series "The Knick" held a film shoot in Morrisania in February.

The Old Bronx Borough Courthouse recently hosted a massive art show called "When You Cut Into the Present, the Future Leaks Out," but Weinstein is still seeking to find a more permanent use for the space.

He is entertaining a number of possibilities, including a charter school, a medical organization or an art supply store coupled with workspace and gallery space for artists.

"We don’t want to do self-storage. We don’t want to do some lame vanilla office building," he said. "We want some kind of special purpose organization so that the building is returned to community use."
