QUEENS — State test results in math and English for grades 3-8 were released earlier this week, and they show that Forest Hills students tested better than citywide numbers, data showed.

Overall, about 35 percent of students in the city met proficiency standards in math, up from roughly 34 percent last year, officials said. About 30 percent met proficiency standards in English, up from 28 percent the year before.

In Forest Hills, P.S. 303, a pre-k through third-grade school, known as The Academy for Excellence Through the Arts, had the highest number of students meeting proficiency standards in neighborhood, with 87.8 percent of students meeting English standards and 90.2 percent meeting math standards.

Other schools in the neighborhood also ranked high in the annual tests.
