THE BRONX — Two NYPD officers were injured in a scuffle with a pair of robbers fleeing a drug house after a failed stickup, police sources said.

The bandits broke into the stash house at 1970 University Ave. in University Heights on Friday morning just before 11 a.m., the sources said.

Officers arrived at the scene just in time to nab the thieves leaving in a stairwell.

In the struggle that ensued, two officers were injured, one with a possible broken leg and another with a laceration on his head, according to fire and police sources.

Emergency workers took the pair to St. Barnabas Hosptial in stable condition, fire officials said.

Police said they found a gun on one of the suspects.

Two people were arrested in the altercation, including the 60-year-old victim of the home invasion who was slapped with narcotics charges, police said.

A 27-year-old was busted for the home invasion and a third man is in custody who has not yet been charged, according to police sources.

Their names or more information about the charges they face were not immediately available.
