LOWER EAST SIDE — A burglar stole $17,485 worth of property from a Clinton Street apartment last week, police said.

Police said a 31-year-old man left two bags containing camera equipment that included a $4,400 Canon EOS 5D Mark III camera, lenses worth more than $6,000 and $2,000 in cash on the dining room table at around 6 p.m. on July 28.

When he returned home the next morning at 2 a.m., the bags and their contents were no longer there, police said, but the man thought someone else in the apartment may have moved them.

Later that day, he spoke to one of the unit’s other occupants, a 30-year-old woman, who said she did not move the items, according to the NYPD. Police said she later realized her laptop had also been taken.

Police said there was no sign of a forced entry and that the burglar may have entered through an unlocked window in the apartment.
