EAST HARLEM — A woman sitting on a park bench was the unintended victim of a shooting outside the Jefferson Houses early Friday morning, police said.

The 32-year-old woman, who police said was not the intended target, was shot in the shoulder around 3:30 a.m. near 288 East 115th St., according to the NYPD

A 23-year-old man was also shot in the ankle. Both victim were in stable condition Friday afternoon, police said.

The shooter is still at large, an NYPD spokesman said.

Between the start of 2015 and August 2, there have been 14 people shot, compared to eight during the same time period last year, according to NYPD stats.

Friday's shooting was the second shooting in an East Harlem public housing development in less than 24 hours.

There were shots fired at the Washington Houses just behind 215 East 102nd St. on Thursday, police said.

There were no victims and no arrests have been made, the spokesman said.

While shootings have increased in the 23rd Precinct, NYPD data shows an 18 percent decrease in major crimes during the last month.
