YORKVILLE — Japanese bakery Harbs is bringing its signature melon, grapefruit and cherry cakes to Third Avenue in November.

The new Harbs — which will be serving up its cakes, teas and sandwiches from 1374 Third Ave. on the corner of East 78th Street — will be the cafe's second outpost in the city, and in the U.S., according to Koji Sato, the chain’s chief financial officer.

It opened its first cafe in Chelsea in November 2014, and the company's president Shigemitsu Yamada has been targeting high-end neighborhoods to open his new bakeries, according to the new restaurant's manager Dawn M. Dailey.

Harbs has 40 locations in Japan.

“He loves New York and it’s always been a dream for him to open here,” she said.

The new restaurant, which is still under construction, will offer 13 cake varieties, including cherry cheese souffle, mango mousse, an Assam royal milk tea cake made with a hint of brandy and plenty of fresh fruit cakes — all of which are baked at their Chelsea store and will be delivered daily to the Upper East Side.

They got the green light from Community Board 8's street life committee on Tuesday for its beer and wine license application.

The new store is expected to open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. except for Sundays, when it'll be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sato said.
