BROOKLYN — A Brooklyn police sergeant has been charged with rape for having sex multiple times with a 15-year-old girl, prosecutors said Wednesday.
Police cuffed Joel Dosseau, 43, who worked in a South Brooklyn precinct, at 8 a.m., the NYPD said. He was off duty at the time of the arrest, which took place in the 94th Precinct.
Prosecutors slapped Dosseau with four counts of rape, seven counts of criminal sex act, 11 counts of sexual misconduct and a slew of other charges for his abuse of one teenage victim over the course of several years, they said.
The victim of the assault, who is now in her twenties, recently reported the abuse to the police, prosecutors said. They also said that she thought the officer was younger.
Her contact with Dosseau began in 2007 when she was 14. Prosecutors said the two first had sex when she was 15, and the relationship lasted until 2009. The circumstances of their meeting were not immediately clear.
Dosseau was indicted in Brooklyn Criminal Court on Wednesday and made the bail that the judge had set at $100,000, prosecutors said.
No attorney information for Dosseau was immediately available.
