HARLEM — For the second time in less than a month, the Health Department has shut down A Taste of Seafood on 125th Street because of flies in the kitchen.

In addition to the fly swarm, health inspectors on Monday noticed that food was being stored above the required temperature, according to online records.

The restaurant was also shut down on July 10 after inspectors found evidence of mice or rats inside, records show.

A Taste of Seafood briefly reopened after passing an inspection on July 14, records show, but remained closed Wednesday morning.

An employee said the store would be open Thursday and referred all questions about the failed inspection to a manager who was not immediately available for comment.

During the restaurant’s January 2015 inspection, health inspectors discovered “live animals other than fish in tank or service animal present in facility's food and/or non-food areas.”

The eatery, which serves Southern-style seafood, was founded in 1993 by Sheila Thomas, who brought her mother's recipes up from Jackson, Mississippi, according to their website.
