MIDTOWN — A man was struck and seriously hurt when he was hit by a limousine in front of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, fire and witnesses said.

The man and several other pedestrians who were crossing East 50th Street between a parked limousine and another car were struck at 3:48 p.m. Tuesday when the limo driver suddenly accelerated, witnesses and the FDNY said.

"I heard screams and the impact of the car against the other car," said Katherine Triana, 21, a hostess at Inside Park, an outdoor restaurant that overlooks the scene of the crash. "There were two people [on the ground]. They definitely couldn't walk cause they were on the floor."

Though witnesses said multiple people had been struck by the limo, only one person was taken to the Bellevue Hospital in serious condition, fire officials said.

Police had no immediate information about the collision.
