QUEENS — Queens, which has just a handful of rooftop bars, is about to get another spot for “elevated” drinks.
The owners of Bourbon Street Cafe at 40-12 Bell Blvd., a popular Bayside restaurant serving Cajun cuisine, are planning to open a drinking spot on top of the building.
The rooftop “will be the first of its kind in north eastern Queens,” they noted.
The bar, which is currently under construction on top of the two-story building, will offer the "best view in Bayside," a quiet neighborhood near the Little Neck Bay that's dominated by single-family homes and known for its parks and good schools.
The 1,800-square-foot space will be lit with French Quarter-style lanterns and will accommodate up to 140 customers.
The owners expect the space to open within a few weeks.
Currently, there are only a few rooftop bars in the borough.
Long Island City boasts two of them — Z Roof at the Z Hotel and Penthouse 808 atop the Ravel Hotel — both of which offer great panoramic views of the city's skyline.
Vetro Restaurant & Lounge in Howard Beach also features a glass-enclosed rooftop bar.
